She painted the rich and famous during the golden age of the 20’s and 30’s and remains one of the periods most famed artists.
This session is suitable for all levels. You’ll learn to position the features of the face and use shadow to create depth in your work. Taking inspiration form de Lempicka, your teacher will support you in drawing a portrait of a woman in an Art Deco style.

Join us in learning about the fundamentals of drawing human anatomy. In this series we’ll look at proportions, the human figure and how to simplify features such as the hands and muscles. You’ll look at the planes and shadows cast by various parts of the body to create convincing three-dimensional illusions on the page. These sessions are suitable for all levels with participants supported in a friendly and supportive online environment.
Monday 31st January – 6:30pm – 7:30pm UK Time
Study of Hands –Anatomy & Positioning
In this session you’ll learn to portray hands in your work. You’ll look at the anatomy of hands and learn how to simplify seemingly complex shapes, using basic planes and shadows to create depth on the page.
Monday 7th February – 6:30pm – 7:30pm UK Time
The Torso – Solidity & Muscle
This week you’ll learn about the structure of the human torso and how to convey solidity in your drawing. You’ll explore shading techniques and practice the use of contrast to portray muscular density in your work.
Monday 14th February – 6:30pm – 7:30pm UK Time
Human Figure – Proportions & Form

Drawing Animal Portraits – Inspired by Louis Wain
Join us in learning to draw animal portraits inspired by English artist and illustrator Louis Wain who was best known for his drawings of anthropomorphized cats. Wain’s mental health had a significant impact on his work and soon after he was diagnosed with schizophrenia, Wain’s pictures of cats morphed from large eyed caricatures, usually picturised in social situations, into colourful, geometric arrangements.
Perfect for all levels, this session will explore two phases of Wain’s artistic life. The first will focus on his signature feline portraits and your teacher will help you to emphasise a cat’s features such as its eyes and fur to create a similar anthropomorphized effect. The second will take inspiration from Wain’s dazzling, fractal cats. You’ll dive into the mindful process of patterning and shape making to create a psychedelic feline portrait.
