Portraying Light – Reflections & Shadows
DRAWING RELFECTIONS | CREATING SHADOW | ZOOMING IN
Join us in learning to portray light in your drawings. In this series we’ll look at both reflection and shadows and how the two interplay. You’ll look at mind bending reflections, followed by a variety of types of shadow. You’ll also zoom in on intricate shapes such as the centre of a rose and learn to use light and dark shapes to create three dimensional illusions. These sessions are suitable for all levels with participants supported in a friendly and supportive online environment.
MONDAY 10TH JANUARY – 6:30PM – 7:30PM UK TIME
Drawing Reflections – Capturing Surface Movement
In this session you’ll explore a variety of reflections. From the movement of a boat’s reflection on water to a forest mirrored on the surface of a river, you’ll look at various ways in which images are reflected and distorted by movement and light.
MONDAY 17TH JANUARY – 6:30PM – 7:30PM UK TIME
Creating Shadow – Crisp & Soft Edges
In this session you’ll look at play of light and how it creates different types of shadow. From crisp edged shadows cast by buildings to softer impressions cast by animals, you’ll explore a wide range of shadow shapes and learn how to portray them in your work.
MONDAY 24TH JANUARY – 6:30PM – 7:30PM UK TIME
Zooming In – Texture & Tones
This class will teach you how to use tone to create shape and texture. You’ll look at the intricately patterned shell of a peanut, popcorn and the centre of a rose to develop an understanding of shape building using light and dark tones.
