Human Anatomy Fundamentals – Form & Proportions



Join us in learning about the fundamentals of drawing human anatomy. In this series we’ll look at proportions, the human figure and how to simplify features such as the hands and muscles. You’ll look at the planes and shadows cast by various parts of the body to create convincing three-dimensional illusions on the page. These sessions are suitable for all levels with participants supported in a friendly and supportive online environment.


Monday 31st January – 6:30pm – 7:30pm UK Time

Study of Hands –Anatomy & Positioning

In this session you’ll learn to portray hands in your work. You’ll look at the anatomy of hands and learn how to simplify seemingly complex shapes, using basic planes and shadows to create depth on the page.

Monday 7th February – 6:30pm – 7:30pm UK Time

The Torso – Solidity & Muscle

This week you’ll learn about the structure of the human torso and how to convey solidity in your drawing. You’ll explore shading techniques and practice the use of contrast to portray muscular density in your work.

Monday 14th February – 6:30pm – 7:30pm UK Time

Human Figure – Proportions & Form
In this class you’ll delve into proportions of the human body and learn how to break down the human form into basic shapes. You’ll discover how to capture the human figure in motion and get a real sense of three-dimensionality in your drawings.
