LEARNING TO DRAW

Drawing Portraits – Features & Proportions

LOOK INTO MY EYES | NOSEY | WATCH YOUR MOUTH

Join us in learning about the fundamentals of portraiture. In this series we’ll look at proportions and how to tackle features such as the eyes, nose, and mouth. You’ll learn to use the shadows cast by various parts of the face to create convincing three-dimensional illusions on the page. At the end of each session, you’ll develop a full portrait drawing with a focus on a specific feature. These sessions are suitable for all levels with participants supported in a friendly and supportive online environment.

MONDAY 18th JULY – 6:30PM – 7:30PM UK TIME

Look Into My Eyes –Form & Proportions

In this session you’ll learn to portray eyes in your work. You’ll look at the anatomy of the eye and learn how to simplify seemingly complex shapes, using basic planes and shadows to create depth on the page.

MONDAY 25TH JULY – 6:30PM – 7:30PM UK TIME

Nosey – Shape & Solidity

This week you’ll learn about the structure of the human nose and how to convey solidity in your drawing. The nose is the most protruding feature of the face and you’ll learn how its shadows can be used to develop realism in your work.
